Saturday night I went and saw Ani DiFranco at the Pikes Peak Center. Neoma and I had balcony seats, which is good because it meant we weren't blocking anyone's view when we leaped up and danced our hearts out through the entire concert.
It also meant we had an unrivaled view of the rest of the audience, none of whom were dancing. I don't know why. I have a theory, though, that when seats are provided, people believe deep down in their bones--or their butts--that it would be rude not to sit.
Perhaps it is. But I'd so much rather have lousy etiquette than sit still during an Ani performance. I'd rather be a freak.
Freaks get better memories.
